In this text Torbjørn Bakken Pedersen discusses the exposure to acetic acid and nitrogen dioxide during film inspection, in the context of measurements made at the National Library of Norway in 2021. Based on these measurements he points to the risks involved with handling decomposing nitrate film. He also shares his thoughts on precautions for handling nitrate film in a safe way.
