This report uses Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) to describe in a graphical way a comprehensive set of processes, drawn from relevant projects and standards for digital preservation (OAIS, TRAC, PLANETS etc). The processes are generic, there is an update planned in 2010 for adaptations and extensions specific to AV content. It includes a review of Semantic Process Modelling and Workflow Languages.

This report is particulary helpful for its process details, helping bridge the gap between top-level strategy and operational aspects of how to do preservation in practice. The Preliminary, Formal Definition and Administrative Phases are critical reading for management staff. Also valuable for ICT staff implementing a digital preservation workflow system.
